About us

Hi, I'm Sam, the founder of BrightGen Australia

I still remember my high school days, when I was studying in a very inefficient way. Looking back now, it hurts to see that most students are exactly like my old self: putting in all the effort, only to find the test looks nothing like their homework. That's why I started BrightGen: to guide students towards the most efficient ways of studying so they can achieve top grades, and to make learning genuinely enjoyable along the way.

Honestly, nobody learns well when they're stressed or bored. I've been a student too, so I get it. Too many students see tutoring as extra school they have to sit through, but I want my students to actually look forward to their sessions. That's why I'm not just a tutor, but a friend to my students. There's no such thing as a silly question, it's completely fine to get things wrong, and we always take a moment to celebrate when something finally clicks. My ultimate goal is for every student to walk out of a session feeling a little more confident than when they walked in.

I know first-hand what it takes to do well. I finished the IB with 43/45, an ATAR equivalent of 99.35, by learning how to study, not by studying longer. Every lesson is built around each student's goals, from the basics and NAPLAN to a top HSC or IB result, online or in person.

Is the first session really free?

Yes. Your first session is completely free with no commitment. It's a chance to meet, try a lesson and see if it's the right fit.

How much do lessons cost after that?

Between $50 and $80 AUD per hour. The exact rate depends on where you're based, the subject, the year level and whether lessons are online or in person. Get in touch for a quote.

Do you offer online and in-person lessons?

Both. In-person lessons are available around Sydney, NSW, and online lessons can be done from anywhere.

Which subjects and year levels do you tutor?

Years 1–12, including NAPLAN, HSC, ATAR and IB preparation. Subjects include Maths, Economics, Chemistry, Physics and Biology.

What happens in the first session?

We talk about your goals and where you're finding things hard, then work through some content together so you can see how lessons run. From there we plan what to focus on.

Do you have a Working with Children Check?

Yes. I hold a verified NSW Working with Children Check (WWCC).

How quickly will you get back to me?
